OMG, this made me guffaw! For the biggest moment of my 17-year-old life--the high school state softball finals--the announcer introduced me as "#22, CATHERINE HEDGE!" (My maiden name was Hodge.) My teammates and I all looked at each other questioningly, and I decided he was, indeed, referring to me because he got my # right. I think my future pseudonym might be Catherine Hedge. And also, Fabulous Romance Writer sounds like an Asshat with a capital A.
Oh, Julia!! That’s quite a story. A friend and I once thought there should be an anthology called “Will Read for Water” filled with all these “worst book event” experience tales.
